Who is Hasnain Nawaz?

Hasnain Nawaz is from Pakistan and started his SEO journey in 2011. He worked on his own websites, practicing SEO and building WordPress sites and blogs. He promoted Amazon fitness products and ClickBank products to earn affiliate commissions.

Hasnain comes from a middle class family and completed his graduation in 2004. SEO was a passion for him, he was interested in IT sector and using laptops and internet devices. At a time when very few people in Pakistan knew you can make money online, Hasnain saw an opportunity and started learning SEO as a hobby.

He learned through blogs, YouTube channels and newsletters of experts in the field. While working 9 to 5 job, Hasnain practiced SEO in his free time in the evenings. He learned WordPress development and SEO himself, self taught and practiced.

Why SEO?

Hasnain chose SEO over paid advertising because of economic constraints in his country. Being from a developing nation, he couldn’t afford to spend on paid advertising campaigns that required dollars. So he decided to master the organic way of scaling businesses through SEO.

Hasnain’s Current Projects

Hasnain is working on two projects:

  1. YouTube Automation Channels: He’s building automated YouTube channels, testing AI generated content and faceless channels. This is a side hustle from his main SEO work and allows him to experiment with new content creation techniques.
  2. E-commerce SEO: Hasnain is working with e-commerce websites in the US market. His clients are from Pakistan and sell high ticket products. The challenge is to improve their SEO as they previously worked with inexperienced SEO practitioners and didn’t see any results.

Hasnain loves these projects because he can apply advanced SEO techniques and see the results in terms of rankings and organic traffic.

Mobile SEO Tips and Strategies from Hasnain

Mobile SEO vs Desktop SEO

Hasnain says with 60% of internet users browsing on mobile, mobile optimization is a must. Here are the key differences in SEO strategies for mobile and desktop:

  • Keyword Strategy: For mobile SEO focus on short term keywords, conversational keywords and location based keywords. Desktop SEO targets longer tail keywords.
  • Content Optimization: Optimize content for voice search on mobile.
  • User Experience: Ensure responsive design and mobile friendly layouts.

Mobile-First Indexing

Google now indexes and ranks the mobile version of content. This means:

  • Websites should be mobile first.
  • Content should be optimized for smaller screens and touch interactions.
  • Page speed on mobile is key to ranking.

Mobile SEO Mistakes

Hasnain mentions several common mobile SEO mistakes:

  1. Non-responsive Design: Not using responsive web design that adapts to different screen sizes.
  2. Poor Content Formatting: Not formatting content for mobile view.
  3. Intrusive Pop-ups: Using pop-ups that disrupt the user experience on mobile.
  4. Slow Page Speed: Not optimizing images and scripts for faster loading on mobile networks.
  5. Difficult Navigation: Poor menu design that makes it hard to navigate on small screens.

Page Speed Optimization for Mobile

Page speed is key for mobile SEO. Hasnain suggests:

  • Optimizing images by compressing them
  • Avoiding videos on web pages if possible
  • Minimizing CSS
  • Using SSD based servers and cloud hosting
  • Implementing Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)

Mobile SEO Tools

Hasnain recommends the following free tools for mobile SEO:

  1. Google Mobile-Friendly Test
  2. Google PageSpeed Insights
  3. GTmetrix
  4. Google Search Console (for Core Web Vitals)

Technical Mobile SEO

  • User experience
  • Responsive design
  • Fast loading times
  • Proper HTTP status codes (no 404s)
  • Optimized images and minimal video
  • Short, descriptive URLs

E-commerce Mobile SEO

For e-commerce sites Hasnain says:

  • Product and category pages should be mobile optimized
  • Technical SEO audits (monthly or quarterly)
  • User experience across all devices

Voice Search Optimization

To optimize for voice search:

  • Use conversational, short term keywords in your content
  • Natural language patterns
  • Local search (e.g. “near me” queries)

Where Does Hasnain See Mobile SEO Heading?

Hasnain thinks mobile SEO will be:

  1. AI powered images and content to enhance user experience and engagement.
  2. Voice Search Optimisation: More voice search optimisation.
  3. User Experience: Mobile user experience in everything we do in web design and content creation.
  4. Local SEO: Local search optimisation will be more important for businesses with physical locations.
  5. Simplified Technical SEO: Back to basics of technical SEO to make sure websites are crawler friendly and fast.

He says SEO is not as hard as it sounds. Just provide value to users and have a website that’s easy to use and fast to load. By focusing on these basics and staying up to date with the latest, you can get and maintain good rankings.

Advice to His Younger Self

Although this question wasn’t asked in the transcript, based on Hasnain’s journey and experience we can assume his advice to his younger self would be:

“If I could go back and give advice to my younger self I would say: Start learning and practicing SEO earlier. Don’t be afraid to try new things and new technologies. The digital landscape is always changing so stay curious and keep learning. Also don’t underestimate the power of networking and building relationships in the industry. And finally focus on providing value and building a strong foundation in the basics of SEO – these will always be relevant no matter how much the field changes.”

By focusing on responsive design, voice search optimisation, page speed and user experience websites can improve their mobile SEO and stay ahead in the digital game.
